We’re not talking a sausage sizzle and some beersies. FIRED UP BARBECUE FESTIVAL celebrates everything we love about flame-grilled, low and slow, earth oven, charcoal, smoked and wood-fired. Located UP north in the beautiful Bay of Islands, where we are lucky to have a BBQ season that lasts a lot longer.
The event will combine forces with the existing Tai Tokerau Low & Slow BBQ Competition, hosted by local pitmaster, Ken Van Mackelbergh (Barbecue BOI), and is part of the NZ Barbecue Alliance roster of official competition events.
FIRED UP BARBECUE FESTIVAL runs alongside the competition with great music, an EXPO Zone for all your BBQ needs, demonstrations, workshops, backyard games on steroids and of course, great BBQ food that can be enjoyed by all attendees! We are fired up to become the most smokin’ hot event in the country!

TAI TOKERAU LOW & SLOW
Northland’s very own battle of the pitmasters hosted by local BBQ guru, Ken van Mackelburgh (Barbecue BOI) attracts competitors from all over the country!
Explore the competition zone to pick up some tips that will elevate your grilling game.
Judging takes place throughout the day with the final prize-giving at 7pm on the Main Stage.
ENTERTAINMENT
No good BBQ is complete without the music! We have an epic line up to rock your socks off all day, plus heaps of fun competitions and backyard BBQ games on steroids!

Please note: Judges ticket includes entry to FIRED UP.
Judges are tasting a LOT of meat over the day, it is quite a commitment.
